Each of these essential oils have their own specific healing properties. And, they came together into a kind of kismet combination--greater than the sum of its parts...

In a base of fractioned coconut oil--Lavender, Frankincense, Bergamot, Clary Sage, and Vanilla soothe and calm the mind through the senses.

Lavender is known as a calming and relaxing herb and has frequently been used for insomnia, anxiety, depression, and natural stress relief. One recent study discovered that the scent of lavender increases the time you spend in deep (slow wave) sleep. One study has shown that Lavender essential oil aromatherapy reduced serum cortisol, which plays a main role in how the body responds to stress.

Frankincense contains sesquiterpenes and incensole acetate. Both of these help to carry oxygen to the brain, and lift mood, which relaxes blood vessels in the skin and positively stimulates the limbic system, the area of the brain responsible for emotions. Activity in the limbic system from Frankincense will reduce feelings and thoughts of anxiety.

Bergamot is calming and often used to treat depression by providing energy; however, it can also help with insomnia-inducing relaxation and reducing agitation. It has been proven to reduce the corticosterone response.

Clary Sage is known for being an effective anti-depressant aid--having shown to positively influence the levels of dopamine in the brain. Clary sage oil is a wonderful remedy for anxiety, with no side-effects. Excellent for uplifting the mood, it helps to ease feelings of anxiety by calming the mind.

Vanilla adds a pleasant warmth to the mix, rounding out the blend. However, Vanilla has other benefits as well. It has a calming effect on the brain, which helps with anger, insomnia, stress and anxiety.
