Podophyllum peltatum

A native woodland treasure, May Apples are striking as a plant, even though they produce just a few leaves. Large 12" umbrella-like leaves open in spring before a single white flower appears. Although the flower is as large as 3" across, it is under the leaves so you have to peek through to see it.
