About

We are a small craft business specializing in the fabric art form called batik. The batik art form uses wax as a resist in a dying process. Melted wax is applied to the fabric. When the fabric is placed in a dye bath, the water based dyes are repelled by the wax, so areas with wax on them retain their original color. The process can be repeated to create a multicolored image. We originally learned this art form as Peace Corps volunteers in the West African country of Togo. After returning to the United States in 1993, we began to sell our art work in local markets and craft shows. We have now been in business for almost 25 years.
