I design and sew garments, accessories, and home decor with hand woven, naturally dyed textiles from West Africa, Mudcloth and Vintage Indigo. My garments include tunics, ponchos, scarves, skirts and mantles. The home decor includes throws, pillow covers, table runners and wall art.

I have recently moved back to the Detroit area after living between Senegal and California for the past 20 years. Awanya was birthed in 2001, and since then the family has grown! Now my children are a big part of the team... We would love to join the Eastern Market Community! Thank you!
