About

Amana Farms Beef is a locally raised, locally processed quality beef option for local eastern Iowa consumers.
When customers purchase Amana Farms Beef, they can rest assured that they buy beef raised right here in Amana, Iowa, using humane and sustainable farming practices. All the beef is inspected, packaged, and frozen in our facilities. Controlling the entire process allows us to keep our prices steady throughout the year. By leveling the pricing and removing the traditional seasonal spikes, we can offer consumers the ability to make fair and affordable purchases year-round.
Amana Farms beef is for consumers that want to eat as healthy as possible without sacrificing taste. We focus on a healthy all-vegetarian diet of homegrown and locally raised foliage and corn to deliver beef with the flavor, tenderness, and juiciness that consumers desire. The majority of our 2000 cattle are born in the spring and freely roam the 6500 acres of Amana pasture until late fall when we bring them into our covered cattle barn to better monitor their health, feed, and keep them safe from the elements.

Production Practices

Amana's commitment to sustainability is in the farming practices we use to conserve soil moisture, reduce erosion and build a healthier soil structure.
However, the best part about Amana Farms is the systematic relationship between our crop and beef production that extends out past the Amana Colonies. We have completed the Loop between our crop and beef productions by adding a methane digester.
By combining our cattle manure and organic waste streams from nearby industrial partners, we produce green energy and reduce inputs at local landfills. The Digester produces enough green energy to power Amana Colonies' homes and tourism businesses.
After the methane is extracted and the green energy produced, the bi-product enhances our soil's health, provides our fields with environmentally friendly fertilizer, reduces synthetic inputs, and limits the use of traditional commercial fertilizers.
