About

Whether you seek classic cocktails, craft cocktails, culinary cocktails fun cocktails or, just something to sip, New Deal has a spirit for every occasion. We've been crafting our spirits with passion and precision in SE Portland since 2004, using the best ingredients and custom distillation equipment. Tom likes to compare our vodka to a good loaf of bread - a quality staple, made with pride, that you can afford to stock in the pantry. You can also shake things up with vodka infused with chili peppers or cacao nibs, or one of our carefully crafted liqueurs. Our gins give a portrait of the juniper berry that is simple yet sophisticated, and great for cocktails. The Distiller's Workshop series provides a window into the limited batches we are working on, such as whiskey, rum, brandy, and aged gin, among others. As a rule of thumb, the best cocktail is the one in your hand. Mix yours with spirits made right, made right here.

Production Practices

New Deal has thrived with the encouragement and support of local businesses and individuals in the community, and we try to keep our business in the local sphere whenever possible. For example, we commissioned a custom-made still from Global Stainless in Canby, Oregon. We use Bob's Red Mill grains and sugars for whiskey and rum fermentations and sweetening our liqueurs. We buy coffee and cascara from Water Avenue Coffee for our Coffee and Cascara Liqueurs. Herbs and botanicals come from Mountain Rose Herbs and Pacific Botanicals. Grains for our barrel-aged spirits are sourced from Camas Country Mill and Double Circle Ranch. Vineyards and orchards in the Willamette Valley and Hood River provide wine, cider and fruit for our brandies and eau de vies. Our cacao nibs are sourced from Theo Chocolate in Seattle and roasted locally in Portland.
