About

Urban Earth Essential Microgreens is a family-owned and operated Urban Microgreen Farm located in Whitesboro, Tx. We are also a Disabled Veteran-owned and operated Farm working under the Texas Department of Agriculture and the Produce Safety Rule program. We are proud members of the GOTEXAN program under the Texas Department of Agriculture, meaning that our Microgreens are proudly grown and produced in Texas.
Who We Are
Urban Earth was started in an effort to provide both our family and others with fresh, local, and sustainable Microgreens. We are fortunate to be able to harvest and deliver our Microgreens and deliver them the same day, in most cases, to whomever we are selling to. What matters the most to us, is that we are delivering a high-quality produce that sincerely increases the quality of life for those consuming them regularly.
What Are Microgreens?
Microgreens are young vegetable greens harvested just after their cotyledon (True) leaves have developed. The result? A micro-vegetable packed full of anywhere from 6-40 times the nutrients, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants of it's fully mature vegetable form. It is that simple.

Production Practices

Integrated Pest Management Extended Growing Season Use Only Organic Materials Non Gmo

Our Microgreens are grown using only USDA Certified Organic Seeds, in OMRI-listed Organic Soil, with water*. Our Microgreens contain absolutely no GMO's, no herbicides, no pesticides, and no chemicals, period. Our Microgreens are grown indoors, in a climate controlled environment, allowing us greater control over the quality of our produce. We are classified by The Grayson County Department of Health and the Texas Department of Agriculture as an Urban Farm. We follow the guidelines set forth by both current ServSafe Food Management and Texas Department of Agriculture Produce Safety. Due to the high cost, we have not pursued the USDA Organic Seal at this time, but may at some point in the future.

*As an added prophylactic (preventative measure), during the germination process, our Sunflower Microgreen Seeds are sprayed with a 3% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide Solution to prevent mold from seed hull decay.

Manager

John and Jessica Theisen
My name is John Theisen, and my wife's name is Jessica. We have been married for almost 14 years, and share four amazing children. My past experience includes time in the United States Air Force, restaurant ownership, non-profit work, and management. I possess a B.S. in Financial and Biblical Studies from Arlington Baptist College, and a M.A. in Executive Leadership from Liberty University. As a family unit, we literally do everything together, and we like it that way. A few years ago my health required us to start taking a closer look at what we eat as a family and why. Urban Earth Microgreens are just one part of taking care of our own family's day to day health, and hopefully helping others on their health journey.
