About

Null Refillery is neighborhood refill store and delivery service aiming to lower the barrier to reduce our dependence on single use plastics that I started a year ago. Eco-friendly cleaning supplies and natural body products that are affordable are refilled into containers that customers already have. I will only buy products in 5 gal quantities or larger and that are made in the USA and locally when possible, from manufacturers that care about their practices and our planet. I do carry a few low waste items, like beeswax food wraps, and woolen dryer balls that I make myself from up-cycled materials. Because I want to start refill habits for my PDX neighbors, I am dedicated to keeping costs reasonable and the refilling process convenient. I am continually researching products that fit my criteria for eco friendly, affordable bulk home and body supplies and modifying my refill service to make refilling a habit. My Goal for this year are to find a place (framers market or business) that will allow me to offer refills at a consistent locations with regularity. I also would like to start making refilling more equitable, wether that be donations of refilled product to food pantries or offering discounts refills to low income areas in PDX.

Plastics are killing me (well us)! I’ll admit, I was one of those wishful recyclers, I probably alone am responsible for China not buying our plastics...sorry. I adjusted my recycling habits, but every time I threw away a lid or a spray pump I had to actively fight to NOT put it in the recycling, I mean come on, it’s plastic just shaped differently right?! I was visiting my cousin in Leipzig Germany and they have this shop, “Einfach Unverpackt” (Simply Unpackaged), wow...blew my mind. Why doesn't PDX have something like this???? We have bulk food options but no bulk cleaning and body supplies. I was seeing more online subscription based companies, offering refills in recyclable or even biodegradable containers, that’s super, but what about all the shipping to individual households? Ok, so I am a neurological physical therapist, I have never wanted to be a boss, or own a business. I am completely happy being the boots on the ground. This idea spoke to me however, and somehow I feel ready to learn and grow.
