Born and raised in Detroit Michigan, as a young child she developed a love for art and design. Growing up through the years she would always manipulate her clothing or sketch little drawings on her mothers weekly television (TV) guides. After graduating from Samuel C. Mumford high school, she continued her education at Central Michigan University earning her degree in apparel design and merchandising. She was always willing to learn from anyone who would teach her new aspects of design. Robrena had the opportunity to study fashion design and art in Paris, France. Having the opportunity to study fashion in Paris was a major accomplishment for her. She loved every bit of it. She sought out to gain more experience in fashion by interning for Rachel Roy, one of the top womenswear designers in New York. She also had the opportunity to work with Katerina Bocci who is a leading bridal designer based in Michigan.Robrena found her true calling in college where she created her very first swimwear collection for an annual fashion show. Although she did not grow up on the beach, swimwear stood out to her. After participating in local fashion shows she received positive reviews from potential customers. This helped her to realize that she had found her calling. Robrena decided to start her very own company and build her brand in the city of Detroit. Robrena participated in many shows through out the metro Detroit area and established a custom swimsuit clientele. Although she enjoyed working with women one-on-one, she knew there was a way to reach more customers. Robrena is continuously working hard to determine her place in the swimwear industry.Many people continue to doubt her dreams of building a successful fashion brand in Detroit. “I always hear you should be in New York, California, or Paris. I’ve had the opportunity to live in Paris and NYC and I loved every bit of it however, my heart lies in the city where I was born and raised in. I did not want to become that designer who was from Detroit; I want to be the designer in Detroit. My love and passion lies in the city of Detroit. My goal is to not only create a successful brand but to also create opportunities for people who believe in moving the city forward.”
