John Price Art
John Price is a local Richmond artist specializing in portraits, local and regional landscapes, and pop art. He is a devoted and driven artist who works on multiple projects at one time using different mediums. He enjoys juggling commissions, personal work, and plein air pieces.
In his landscape paintings, John travels with his art supplies, sketchbook, and camera to the location. He will often do multiple oil studies to make sure the image has the right look and feel to it. It's rare that the final piece is the first one he painted. One thing that distinguishes many of his landscape paintings is that he collects soil samples from the location and grinds it into the paint so collectors truly have a piece of the land in the painting.
John has traveled all over the world as former military personnel and as a civilian. He's lived and worked in Alaska, Iraq, Egypt and Dubai, and traveled to Ireland, Germany and London. He has a Communications degree from John Tyler and a background in graphic design with the United States Army. He has taught private lessons, social painting classes, and is also a published author.
Most of John's books and short stories can be found on Amazon. You can check out his art on his website or social media or follow his blog at johnpriceart.blogspot.com.
