Moy and Puchi Yescas
Moy Yescas:
The heart, soul, and spark of this food truck operation. Born and raised in Mexico City, Moy has a soft spot for Mexican Street Food, especially tacos.
An entrepreneur at heart and by blood, Moy moved to the US in 1997 to help run family owned restaurants in Minneapolis. Passionate about food, drink, and restaurant management, Moy ran a variety of bars and restaurants in the Twin Cities.
He relocated to Cedar Rapids in 2008 and took a promising job financial sector, but was continuously drawn back to working part-time in the energetic and creative restaurant world. In 2009 he met his like-minded entrepreneurial spirit and partner: Puchi. They started envisioning a business, but continued to work their corporate jobs.
Moy and Puchi reflected on their passions, strengths, and opportunities…and decided to start a food truck! Moy turned to his own time-honed cooking and business skills to fill a void in the Cedar Rapids restaurant space.
With a love for authentic food, travel, and adventurous experiences, Moy expresses his creativity through careful preparation of his dishes. “Part of my goal is to share some of my culture from growing up in the city and having access to street tacos, which were very popular, along with other food stands. Mexican cuisine is very extensive and we only know just small part of it here in the Midwest. A component of our ambition is to educate people and introduce more authentic Mexican food to the Corridor.”
Moy puts his energy and soul into creating dishes that will take any Mexico native back to the streets of their childhood.
When Moy isn’t on the food truck creating the menu items that delight you, you’ll find him sipping Mezcal, sharing stories with friends, and striking up conversations with anyone. Sit down and stay awhile; he always has a story to share.

Puchi (Angelique) Yescas:
In contrast to metropolis-raised Moy, Puchi is homegrown from the Heartland. Puchi called Monticello, IA home for most of her childhood and moved to Cedar Rapids in 2007. Puchi has preserved a love for travel and authentic food since her childhood. Puchi also worked in the financial sector for half a decade before being laid-off, but she’ll tell you it was one of the best things that’s happened to her.
“Sometimes you need a gentle, or hard, push toward your passion. When you’re pushed out of your comfort zone, you start thinking about how things can look if you pursue your ambitions.”
An entrepreneur at heart, Puchi has always anticipated building a business and embraced this opportunity to jointly run a food truck. Thrilled to be using her passion for business and food, Puchi spends much of her time running marketing initiatives and social media, when she’s not at the window serving up your mouthwatering tacos.
